The Iringa Hope mission is to improve the local economy and living conditions for families in Tanzania, Africa. We do this through a partnership program with the University of Iringa and the Iringa Diocese. The program provides education and training to our members and develops village Micro Finance funds and Agricultural Cooperatives.

Iringa Hope uses a unique model to deliver agricultural financing, marketing, and training to smallholder farmers in Tanzania. The organization develops self-governed and self-sustaining member owned and operated cooperative societies that help to alleviate poverty and empower agricultural entrepreneurs.

Rural Iringa’s average annual family income is $300, but an Iringa Hope member is able to triple that income by tripling their agricultural yields. There are currently 3200 cooperative members improving their livelihoods, impacting their communities, and developing the regional economy.

This last year we completed two new buildings in your partner synod of Njombe.  We also introduced a new crop support program, the DSS program, into several of the parishes. We work both in Iringa and Njombe. In Njombe there are currently over 400 families in the program - about 2,500+ people.  Like most of our areas, the enrollment is limited by the capital we can bring to the program.
