Travel reimbursement: Effective July 1, 2008, the IRS standard mileage rate for business use of a car is 58.5 cents per mile. This is the maximum reimbursement allowed under an accountable reimbursement plan. The Western Iowa Synod will reimburse business mileage at the IRS rate. Synod council, committee and board members will be offered mileage reimbursement at 14 cents per mile, a rate comparable to the IRS rate for charitable travel.

Statement of Intent

This form is expected to be completed and returned to the synod office by February 1st each year. Please note these definitions:

bullet

Regular giving by members includes all non-designated giving by congregation members to the congregation. Typically, this consists of all offerings and pledges.

bullet

Mission Support includes all of your congregation's non-designated contributions to the larger church, i.e. the Western Iowa Synod and the churchwide organization through the Western Iowa Synod office.

All checks remitted to the Western Iowa Synod are to be made payable to "Western Iowa Synod ELCA" for proper deposit records. Please use synod remittance forms to identify your contributions. Synod remittance forms are intended for congregational remittances only. We welcome contributions from women's, men's, youth or Sunday school groups but prefer that the check be accompanied by a written statement detailing the purpose of the contribution rather than a synod remittance form.

The synod fiscal year runs February 1st through January 31st each year. If this does not mirror your congregation's fiscal year, our end-of-year mission support or designated giving totals may differ from yours.
